Shut down the dangerous Gori -1 nuclear plant

Shut down the dangerous Gori -1 nuclear plant. We are censuring the decision of Council for Nuclear Safety. On the 4th of July, Council for Nuclear Safety announced that it’s safe enough to reactivate Gori -1 nuclear plant. So various people; the consumer’s cooperatives, religious organizations, local residents in nuclear plant area and politicians gathered and had a press conference to censure the decision of Council for Nuclear Safety. Mr. Ha, Seong Soo from the Green party said it was impossible to sit in on the Council’s conference, censuring their closed meeting to push ahead their reactivation decision. Shut Down of Gori-1 Nuclear Plant Focused Action been started

Shut Down of Gori-1 Nuclear Plant Focused Action been started There has been No Nukes Cafe started in front of Council for Nuclear Safety asking for the shut down of Gori-1 Nuclear Plant since last 18th of June. One hour Action already gone along in front of the Council, but the government is pushing ahead with the tivation of Gori-1 after IAEA’s asessment. That’s why No Nukes Cafe with yellow parasol has been opened for 2 weeks. No Nukes Cafe is planning to have various events for the shudown of Gori-1 from 10AM to 7PM in front of the Council. Ailing nuclear plant, it’s time to shut down, no more extension! To build the nuclear-free society, Hansalim is suggesting the change in life style through saving energy. But also, joining the action on shutdown of ailing nuclear plant. There are various actions are continuing for shutdown of ailing nuclear plants in Korea includes Gori -1 nuclear plant, which already completed its life span in 2007 but granted extension. Recently, blackout accident etc. occurred, it has been a serious social problem. Turn off the light, Light up the hope of the life

“Turn off the light, Light up the hope of the life” Candle Night with Hansalim members Candle Night started from Japan inspired by the voluntary blackout held by Canadian citizens to protest the U.S. Bush Adminstration’s energy policy to build one new nuclear plant each month in 2001. Meanwhile, Hansalim also held several Candle Nights. And on the 11th of March, the day of one year anniversary of Fukushima Nuclear Accident, Hansalim also held Candle Night commemorating the victims and thinking about where the electricity comes from. Civil Declaration on No Nukes with Hansalim members

Civil Declaration on No Nukes with Hansalim members Civil Declaration appeared in the press, Kyunghang Since last February, Hansalim has been raised the members on the Civil Declaration for the nuclear-free society. It started from commemorating the victims of Fukushima nuclear accident and protecting our livelihood contaminated by radioactive materials. The total number of people participate the Civil Declaration was 5,512 and the list of the people appeared in the press, Kyunghang. Among them, 2,893 were Hansalim members and the list of them was also on Hansalim newsletter.
